Do you want to be perceived as a professional? Then it is important to use the right image format when you publish posts or ads on your company's Facebook page or Instagram account.

The most important image sizes on Facebook

Cover image: 820 x 312 pixels. 640 x 360 px on mobile.

Even if you are posting a cover image in 820 x 312 px format, keep in mind that the most important information is located in the center of the cover image. In this way, it is also suitable for smartphones where the image is 640 pixels wide and 360 pixels high.

Profile picture: 170 x 170 px on computer. 128 x 128 px on mobile. Your logo should be simple and clear. The large image shown here is not large.

Link post: 1200 x 628 px or 1028 x 1028 px (square).

Cover image for event: 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Carousel pictures: 800 x 800 px.

Image sizes on Instagram

Profile picture: 110 x 110 pixels. In the same way as on Facebook, the logo should be simple and clear.

Posts: 1080 x 1080 pixels. Previously, there had to be square photos on Instagram. This is not the case now, but you have to stick to a maximum of 1080 pixels in width.

Instagram stories: 1080 x 1920 px. Note! Even though Instagram scales your photos down to 612 x 612, you should still post them at 1080 x 1080 px.

PNG rather than JPG

We recommend creating the images in png format instead of jpg. Facebook reads the color codes in a png file better.

In the two identical images below, the top layer is in png format and the bottom in jpg. There is a big difference in perceived resolution in the images.
